BRANCATELLI
Riotorto LI, Italy (Tuscany)

Valle delle Stelle
Toscana IGT

89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc

This estate bottling proudly represents the organic vineyards with value and exceptional quality. Less than one mile from the Mediterranean sea, the ocean air keeps the alcohol in check with an energetic and vibrant style. This Cabernet is full of dark fruits and black cherry, complemented by black pepper spice and savory undertones of grilled herbs, earth, and smoke. A small percentage of Cabernet Franc highlights these spice notes.

Points of Interest

Previously a chef and restaurateur, Giuseppe started from scratch with virgin land, organic from day one. Later joined by the famous winemaker from Sassicaia, Graziana Grassini, together they craft some of the most well-made and affordable Cabernet from the famous Maremma coast in Tuscany. In this tiny town of Riotorto, you will find a rural and rustic charm, expressed perfectly in this terroir driven wine.
Valle del Sogno
Toscana IGT

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc

Sourced from a single plot of the best organic, estate fruit comes “The Valley of the Dream” – Valle del Sogno. Just a few thousand bottles are made, and the hand-sorted fruit selection is noticeable with a refined and long finish. The aroma is characterized by brooding dark red fruits and a refined earthy, herbal note with subtle hints of balsamic and vanilla. The palate is firm but not aggressive and the finish is lengthy and lingering.

Points of Interest

This is the big brother of the “Valle delle Stelle” with a similar blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. With the help of famous winemaker Graziana Grassini, this wine is a standout for the area known as the Val di Cornia. With 6 hectares of Cabernet planted, this is the best fruit from a single hectare plot with the best exposure and microclimate. Aged 18 months in new and used French Allier barrels.
Petit Verdot
Toscana IGT

Petit Verdot

Petit Verdot refers to the small berries that the vine produces, but this wine is anything but small. Usually seen as a blending grape to firm up Cabernets with more tannin, this is a powerful wine indeed. The aromas are subtle and complex with dark fruits both berry and plum, violet flowers, and earthy notes like graphite, cedar, cocoa, and spice. Expect a firm and powerful mid palate with plenty of tannin and a finish that will improve with age.

Points of Interest

This is a very special wine. Giuseppe and Adam Richard, owner of Uva Imports, have been working together for 10 years and the 2016 vintage was the first time the Brancatelli estate has bottled a single varietal Petit Verdot. With just one hectare planted on the property, the Petit Verdot is typically used as a blending grape. For Adam and Uva Imports, Giuseppe bottled just a few barrels of this powerful wine.
Giuseppe Brancatelli
Toscana IGT

Syrah

Power, executed with finesse, is a hallmark of the terroir around Riotorto and the winemaking skill at Azienda Agricola Brancatelli. Here the minerality and savory flavors of Syrah shine bright. Blackberry, dark cherry, and currant give way to smoky, meaty flavors, grilled herbs, forest floor, and spice. A sapidity lingers in the long finish and the fruit flavors begin to grow as the palate acclimates to a strong minerality.

Points of Interest

The pride and joy of the Brancatelli estate, this bottling is denoted with Giuseppe’s full name. Like the Sogno for Cabernet, this is a small selection of the best fruit from the certified organic estate. The terroir of the Mediterranean coastline expresses a dark, more earthy power, than the French or American Syrahs. Aged in small French barrels for 18 months.
