Alexandra is only the fourth owner of this majestic property since its construction by the Cluny monks in the 12th century. She has dedicated her intensive biodynamic farming practices to producing Burgundian style Gamay without carbonic maceration.

AT A GLANCE
The greatest vineyards in Burgundy owe their existence to the monks of Cluny, and Château des Bachelards is no exception. This clos, which dates back to the 12th century, contains a unique soil of granitic blue clay. From this unique soil grows old-vine Gamay, (some vines over 100 years of age) which produces an age-worthy wine of elegance, unparalleled in the Beaujolais region. The estate is certified both organic and biodynamic, (the first estate to be certified by Demeter in Fleurie) with the highest of standards in both the vineyard and the winery. Proprietor Comtesse Alexandra de Vazeilles is a pioneer, having worked with both Jean Marc-Roulot and Château Latour. Alexandra stands as an exciting new-comer in the region with both her vineyard management as well as her vision for the appellation. Certified organic and biodynamic.
