AT A GLANCE

The soils of Boca are completely unique because of the combination of glacial and volcanic elements. Surrounded by forest at high elevation, the vineyards are within the UNESCO Geopark, Sesia Val Grande, and cultivated organically on mineral rich soils. A field blend of Nebbiolo, Vespolina, and Uva Rara, Poderi Garona is one of the largest productions of Boca DOC wines with just 2.5 hectares. The entire Boca DOC is less than 25 hectares in total, a fraction of its former glory leading up to the economic struggles following World War II. Renzo Duella oversees the Poderi Garona estate and represents four generations growing and vinifying wines in this area. With a handful of passionate producers, the revival of Boca has begun.
