Santa Caterina is a leader in the effort to rebuild the reputation of Asti's historic red grapes.

AT A GLANCE
The historic Santa Caterina estate is built around a Benedictine Abby dating back to 961 AD, with an ancient underground cellar. Current owner Guido Carolo Alleva has a passion for the terroir and history of his family's region. Here in the heart of the Monferrato zone on hillsides with perfect exposure, Guido, along with ten other producers have started the "Monferace Project" to promote the Grignolino grape. Santa Caterina received a Tre Bicchieri award for their "Monferace" for both the 2013 and 2015 vintages. Utilizing a symbiotic approach to farming, spontaneous yeast fermentation, and balanced oak regiments, Santa Caterina is quickly being recognized in the area for high quality wine with the skill and precision of winemaker, Luciana Biondo. Practicing organic.
