Aglianico

Irpinia DOC

85% Aglianico, 15% Merlot

Milena Pepe brings finesse and freshness to the indigenous grapes of Campania. One of the keys to success with this noble red grape is the 2 years of aging before bottling. Aromas of cherry and blackberry abound with black pepper and cocoa. The palate expresses earthy tannins and a lingering finish recalling wild berries, forest floor, and spice.

POINTS OF INTEREST

This high elevation area with volcanic soil is known for structured wines. In the right hands, the Aglianico grape shines the brightest with structure, power, and elegance. Comparable to Nebbiolo in the north, this is the noble grape of the south. Two years aging in a neutral vessel, tame the tannins, retaining the fruit character. Milena Pepe studied enology in France and worked with prominent producers in the Rhone valley.

Falanghina

Irpinia DOC

Falanghina

Quickly rising as one of Italy's most celebrated white grapes, this Falanghina is a great value and over-delivers on fruit and character. A pleasure to drink with intense aromatics of pineapple, mango skin, orchard fruits, and white flowers, the palate is impactful with fresh acidity and finishing with notes of green apple and citrus.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Falanghina is the everyday white wine of Naples, the Amalfi coast, and Campania. At higher elevations benefited by cool nights, Falanghina has the potential to produce intensely aromatic and fruity wines with great sapidity and structure. Milena has learned the necessary skills to bring out the best in this common local variety through integrated farming, minimalist intervention, and careful hand-selection and sorting.

Fiano di Avellino

Fiano di Avellino DOCG

Fiano

Classified with DOCG status, Fiano from the region of Avellino is a fine example of great white wine production in Italy. Apparent on the nose are aromas of peach, honeysuckle, candied fruit, chamomile, and Mediterranean scrub. A soft, round palate gives way to a mineral salinity and honeycomb, followed by a persistent finish with notes of hazelnut.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Fiano grape has grace and subtlety, a sophisticated variety that has piqued the interest of sommeliers around the world. The classified DOCG region comes from a small area with an average elevation of 1700 feet a.s.l on volcanic soils. The use of organic materials in the vineyards and dry-framing are just a couple of ways the Pepe family create masterful wine in the vineyard.
