Lugana "Benedictus"

Lugana DOC

Turbiana

From a single parcel of 40+ year old vines, this wine is truly a "blessing" as the name implies. Partially aged in French oak barrels, the hint of oak adds to the rich layers and texture of this wine. An elevated example of the coveted local grape, Turbiana, it is grown within the small DOC of Lugana. A richer style than the “Mandolara” with white flowers, complex orchard fruits, and a hint of vanilla. A later harvest and barrel aging help to develop more texture and length in the finish.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The story of Fabio and his brother Paolo Zenato is linked to the history and land of their area. Their property includes a small lake, Lago del Frassino, home to many rare water birds, and for these reason no chemicals are used in the vineyards to protect the ecosystem. Research at the family's vine nursery has lead to the registration of more than 10 different clones of the Turbiana grape. Historically misidentified as part of the Trebbiano grape family, Turbiana is closely related to Verdicchio.

Chiaretto Classico Rosé

Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC

55% Corvina, 35% Rondinella, 10% Molinara

Made from the indigenous grapes of the region, you won't find many rosés in the world that have this amount of character and freshness for the price. The aromatics are lively with peach blossom, grapefruit, wild strawberries, and stone fruit. The mid-palate brings a touch of strawberry cream and a satisfying weight, and the finish is bone-dry with hints of white pepper and lingering citrus.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Italy's largest lake, Lake Garda, has a history of making rosé-like wines for hundreds of years. Here on the lake, they don't refer to these wines as rosato or rosé, but they have their own name for it, Chiaretto, meaning "the little pale one". The term Chiaretto dates back to the 1800s. The small family of estate of Le Morette has 3 generations of experience crafting the finest rosé style wines in the Classic area of Bardolino, very close to the eastern shore of the lake.

Lugana "Mandolara"

Lugana DOC

Turbiana

As part of the Verdicchio grape family, this local grape is called Turbiana and it is unique to the southern shore of Italy's largest lake, lake Garda. This unoaked wine has a full-bodied texture, not unlike Chardonnay, but with aromas and a finish that are markedly distinct. On the nose there are white flowers, citrus, and pear, with a classic finish reminiscent of almond. The mid-palate is always fresh, with a lively acidity to counter the weight and texture.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Le Morette winery is named after a small duck and translates as, the brunette. These ducks nest on the family's property, and because of this habitat no chemicals are used in the vineyards. The family is integral in the research on native grape species and have been grafting vines for three generations. Fabio and Paolo Zenato, have continued the family tradition of, grafting vines, producing great wine, and protecting the biodiversity of the area.

Chiaretto Cepage Rosé

Bardolino Chiaretto Classico DOC

55% Corvina, 35% Rondinella, 10% Molinara

An approachable brut style with pronounced fruit flavors that generously express watermelon, peach, apricot, and strawberry. The fruit is carefully selected for acidity and balance and the bubbles are persistent and creamy. Sparkling wine isn’t just for special occasions, we think “Cepage” is perfect for celebrating life's daily pleasures and breaking bread with friends and family.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Harvested from vineyards overlooking Italy's largest lake, this wine pairs perfectly with sunshine and relaxing moments. Whether it's the ocean, lake, pool, or your bathtub, this wine will put a smile on your face and transport you to a better place. A great wine needs two other important ingredients, good friends and good food, but sometimes sunshine or ocean waves make for a rewarding replacement!
