Lugana "Mandolara"

Lugana DOC

Turbiana

As part of the Verdicchio grape family, this local grape is called Turbiana and it is unique to the southern shore of Italy's largest lake, lake Garda. This unoaked wine has a full-bodied texture, not unlike Chardonnay, but with aromas and a finish that are markedly distinct. On the nose there are white flowers, citrus, and pear, with a classic finish reminiscent of almond. The mid-palate is always fresh, with a lively acidity to counter the weight and texture.

POINTS OF INTEREST

The Le Morette winery is named after a small duck and translates as, the brunette. These ducks nest on the family's property, and because of this habitat no chemicals are used in the vineyards. The family is integral in the research on native grape species and have been grafting vines for three generations. Fabio and Paolo Zenato, have continued the family tradition of, grafting vines, producing great wine, and protecting the biodiversity of the area.

Bardolino Classico

Bardolino Classico DOC

65% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 5% Molinara

For fans of Oregon Pinot Noir and the "Vin de Soif" craze, this one's for you. A Light-bodied wine with low tannins, this delicate red wine is full of flavor. A classic blend of indigenous grapes, the majority is Corvina which adds the earthy/black pepper notes complementing tart red fruits of strawberry, cherry, and pomegranate. This Classic expression from Bardolino is perfect with a little chill and offers a hint of blood orange in an energetic finish. We just can't get enough.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Bardolino has lived under the shadow of the Valpolicella for decades. Producers like Le Morette are leading the charge to change that, expressing the true terroir and authentic character of what makes Bardolino special: REFRESHING, DRINKABILITY. With three generations dedicated to native grapes and the utmost respect for the land, Fabio and Paolo Zenato carry the torch of the family tradition building a new energy efficient winery in 2013.
