VIGNOBLES MAYARD
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône Valley

Domaine du Père Pape
Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre
Châteauneuf-du-Pape, the "New House of the Pope" is a regal name for sure. Wines from this region should be equally impressive, and this wine from the lieu-dit (vineyard) Le Grand Coulet, does not disappoint. From the most southern point of the region, this energetic wine expresses fruits of wild, black and blue berries, violet flowers, forest floor, and garrigue. The texture is firm with approachable tannin, and the lush fruit flavors give way to a savory finish.

POINTS OF INTEREST
The Père Pape comes from a single plot, Grand Coulet, in the far south of the region. Sandy soils are covered by the famous stones, Galet, with 45+ year old vines. Aged in large French barrels and tanks, the wine will age up to 18 months. This wine captures your attention with energy and depth, rarely balanced so well with approachable fruit character. 60% Grenache is blended with Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvèdre, farmed organically, and fermented with native yeast.
